CONNEL FERRY VIADUCT

North End Ground Frame
At the north end of the Viaduct a one-lever ground frame has been provided on the Up side of the line, fitted with an Annett's key, which, when withdrawn, locks the ground frame lever in the normal position. A separate Annett's lock and key has been provided on the Level Crossing Gate at the north end of the bridge and the withdrawal of the key locks the gate. This key must be inserted in the lock on the side of the one-lever ground frame before the key of that frame can be withdrawn.
The above-mentioned ground frame operates the road indicator described below and situated on the left of the public approach road leading to the south end of the Connel Ferry Viaduct. This indicator is illuminated at night.

WARNING.
ONE WAY TRAFFIC.
Do not move when gate is opened until indicator
changes from "STOP" to "COME ON."

STOP
RING BELL AND WAIT.

(Indicator shews "Stop" or "Come on.")

With the ground frame lever in normal position the indicator shews "STOP."
With the ground frame lever in the pulled position the indicator shews "COME ON."
The road users' bell push at the south end of the Viaduct rings the bell at the gate at the north end of the Viaduct.
In addition, the following sign has been erected on the right-hand side of the south approach road:-


South End Ground Frame
At the south end of the Viaduct a two-lever ground frame has been provided near the Gatekeeper's hut and is fitted with an Annett's lock which is freed by the Annett's key in the south level crossing gate.
The method of operation is as follows:-
The key from the north end ground frame is carried to the south end crossing gate, which is normally closed to the Railway. This key unlocks the south gate, allowing it to be placed across the south approach roadway, thus releasing a second key which unlocks the south end ground frame operating the following signals:-
(1) Viaduct South Ground Frame Down Home Signal.
Controlled also from Connel Ferry West Box.
(2) Connel Ferry West - Branch to Up Main Outer Home.
(3) Connel Ferry West - Branch to Down Loop Outer Home.
Nos. 2 and 3 previously in use and remain unaltered.
Situated 222 yards south of Viaduct Ground Frame and 163 yards north of Connel Ferry West Signal Box. No.1 on Left and Nos. 2 and 3 on Right of Drivers.

(4) Viaduct South Ground Frame Up Main Home.
(5) Connel Ferry West - Up Branch Distant.
No. 5 previously situated 792 yards north of Connel Ferry West Signal Box on Left of Drivers, and along with No.4 is now situated 596 yards north of Viaduct South Ground Frame and 981 yards north of Connel Ferry West Signal Box on Left of Drivers.

(6) Viaduct South Ground Frame Up Distant.
Situated 1562 yards south of Ground Frame on Left of Drivers.

All previous Notices regarding Signalling, etc., Arrangements at Connel Ferry Viaduct are hereby cancelled.
The other Signals at Connel Ferry West remain unaltered.
