OBAN STATION EXTENSION. NEW AND ALTERED SIGNALS AT OBAN STATION

New signal box opened at west side of line between the Lighthouse Siding and the Pier Sidings, about 37 yards north of the existing box. Platforms and Dock Lines to be numbered from the north side.

Starting Signals: A double bracket post at the west end of Nos. 3 and 4 Platforms, between Nos. 3 and 4 Dock Lines, about 152 yards north of the box:

Left arm (From No. 4 Dock Line).
Right arm (From No. 3 Dock Line).

From No. 2 Dock Line, at the west end of Nos. 2 and 3 Platforms, between Nos. 2 and 3 Dock Lines, about 144 yards north of the box.

From No. 1 Dock Line, with a right hand bracket disc (No. 1 Dock Line to Pier Sidings) at the west end of No. 1 Platform, about 109 yards north of the box.


A new Signal Bridge across the Up and Down Lines, about 71 yards south of the box and 331 yards north of Oban Junction cabin:

(1) To Pier Sidings.

(2) Shunting Pier Sidings, etc. to Down Main Line as far as the throw-off points 170 yards south of the box.

(3) Starting No. 1 Dock Line.

(4) Starting Down to Up Main Line.

(5) Starting No. 2 Dock Line.

(6) Starting No. 3 Dock Line.

(7) Starting No. 4 Dock Line.

(8) Up Advanced Starting to Up Main Line.

(9) Oban Junction Up Main Line Distant.

(10) Up Main Line to No. 2 Dock Line.

(11) Up Main Line to No. 3 Dock Line.

(12) Up Main Line to No. 4 Dock Line.

(13) Up Main Line to Carriage Sidings.

A post at the side of the Down Main Line, about 462 yards south of the box and 60 yards south of Oban Junction cabin carries the Oban Junction Down Home with the Oban Distant below and a right hand bracket arm (Oban Junction Signal to Goods Yard).

Signal Discs: From Carriage Sidings, outside same, about 141 yards north of the box.

From Loading Bank Sidings, between same and No. 1 Dock Line, about 90 yards north of the box.

From Pier Sidings, outside same, about 9 yards south of the box.

From Up to Down Main Line, between these lines, about 134 yards south of the box.

From Pier Siding to No.1 Dock Line, between Pier Siding and No. 1 Dock Line, about 32 yards north of the box.

Small Locking Frames: 2-Lever, outside Carriage Sidings, about 240 yards north of the box.

4-Lever, between Nos. 1 and 2 Dock Lines, about 354 yards north of the box.

Both these are electrically released from the box, with bell communication as below:

From No. 1 to No. 2 Dock ... ... ... ... 2 beats.

From No. 2 to No. 1 Dock ... ... ... ... 3 beats.

From No. 4 Dock to Carriage Sidings 4 beats.

If line free repeat above, but if line not free 1 beat.

When shunting completed and dwarf frame restored to normal ... ... ... 5 beats.

Repeat, amend and cancel signals as for block working.

Throw-off points to protect Down Main Line during shunting operations are on the Down Main Line, about 170 south of the box, with a ground disc to indicate the position of the points, placed at the side of the Down Main Line opposite the points.

To come into operation on Thursday, the 23rd day of June, 1904.
