NEW SIGNALS ON THE BALLACHULISH LINE

In consequence of the opening of the Line between Connel Ferry and Ballachulish the following new Signal Boxes and Signals will be brought into use:-

BENDERLOCH STATION.

A Signal Box has been erected on the Up Platform, about 352 yards North of the 68 Mile Post, and from it the following Signals will be worked:-

HOME AND ADVANCED HOME SIGNALS.- The Up Signal stands by the side of the Main Line, about 201 yards North of the Signal Box.

The Advanced Up Signal is the Signal on the Post which stands between the Up Main Line and the Sidings, about 63 yards South of the Signal Box. (This Post also carries a left-hand Bracket Disc Signal.)

The Down Signal stands by the side of the Main Line, about 161 yards South of the Signal Box.

The Advanced Down Signal is the Signal on the Post which stands between the Down Main Line and the Siding, about 101 yards North of the Signal Box. (This Post also carries a left-hand Bracket Disc Signal.)

DISTANT SIGNALS.- The Up Signal stands by the side of the Main Line, about 998 yards North of the Signal Box.

The Down Signal stands by the side of the Main Line, about 942 yards South of the Signal Box.

SIDING SIGNALS.- The Signal from the Up Main Line to the Sidings is the Disc Signal on the Post which carries the Advanced Up Home Signal already described.

The Signal from the Sidings to the Up Main Line is the Ground Signal which stands between the Sidings and the Main Line, about 128 yards South of the Signal Box.

The Signal from the Down Main Line to the Siding is the Disc Signal on the Post which carries the Advanced Down Home Signal already described.

The Signal from the Siding to the Down Main Line is the Ground Signal which stands between the Sidings and the Main Line, about 162 yards North of the Signal Box.

BALLAST SIDING.

Near the 68½ Mile Post, between Benderloch and Creagan Stations, a small Locking-Frame of two Levers, controlled by the Tablet for the Section, has been fixed close to the Siding Points on the West side of the Line, and the following Signal will be worked therefrom:-

SIDING SIGNAL.- The Signal from the Siding is the Ground Signal which has been fixed outside the Siding, about 70 yards South from the Frame.

CREAGAN STATION.

A Signal Box has been erected on the Island Platform, about 703 yards North of the 75 Mile Post, and from it the following Signals will be worked:-

HOME AND ADVANCED HOME SIGNALS.- The Up Signal stands by the side of the Main Line, about 188 yards North of the Signal Box.

The Advanced Up Signal is the Signal on the Post which stands between the Up Main Line and the Sidings, about 61 yards South of the Signal Box. (This Post also carries a left-hand Bracket Disc Signal.)

The Down Signal stands by the side of the Main Line, about 147 yards South of the Signal Box.

The Advanced Down Signal stands by the side of the Down Line, about 96 yards North of the Signal Box.

DISTANT SIGNALS.- The Up Signal stands by the side of the Main Line, about 1,061 yards North of the Signal Box.

The Down Signal stands by the side of the Main Line, about 780 yards South of the Signal Box.

SIDING SIGNALS.- The Signal from the Up Main Line to the Sidings is the Disc Signal on the Post carrying the Advanced Up Home Signal already described.

The Signal from the Sidings to the Up Main Line is the Ground Signal which stands outside the Sidings, about 128 yards South of the Signal Box.

APPIN STATION.

A Signal Box has been erected on the Down Platform, about 333 yards North of the 78½ Mile Post, and from it the following Signals will be worked:-

HOME AND ADVANCED HOME SIGNALS.- The Up Signal stands by the side of the Main Line, about 179 yards North of the Signal Box.

The Advanced Up Signal is the Signal on the Post which stands between the Up Main Line and the Siding, about 87 yards South of the Signal Box. (This Post also carries a left-hand Bracket Disc Signal.)

The Down Signal stands by the side of the Main Line, about 189 yards South of the Signal Box.

The Advanced Down Signal is the Signal on the Post which stands between the Down Main Line and the Sidings, about 65 yards North of the Signal Box. (This Post also carries a left-hand Bracket Disc Signal.)

DISTANT SIGNALS.- The Up Signal stands by the side of the Main Line, about 950 yards North of the Signal Box.

The Down Signal stands by the side of the Main Line, about 978 yards South of the Signal Box.

SIDING SIGNALS.- The Signal from the Up Main Line to the Siding is the Disc Signal on the Post carrying the Advanced Up Home Signal already described.

The Signal from the Siding to the Up Main Line is the Ground Signal which stands outside the Siding, about 154 yards South of the Signal Box.

The Signal from the Down Main Line to the Sidings is the Disc Signal on the Post carrying the Advanced Down Home Signal already described.

The Signal from the Sidings to the Down Main Line is the Ground Signal which stands outside the Sidings, about 136 yards North of the Signal Box.

DUROR STATION.

A Signal Box has been erected on the Up Platform, about 91 yards North of the 84¼ Mile Post, and from it the following Signals will be worked:-

HOME AND ADVANCED HOME SIGNALS.- The Up Signal stands between the Main Line and the Siding, about 169 yards North of the Signal Box.

The Advanced Up Signal stands by the side of the Up Main Line, about 136 yards South of the Signal Box.

The Down Signal stands by the side of the Main Line, about 227 yards South of the Signal Box.

The Advanced Down Signal stands by the side of the Down Main Line, about 71 yards North of the Signal Box.

DISTANT SIGNALS.- The Up Signal stands by the side of the Main Line, about 971 yards North of the Signal Box.

The Down Signal stands by the side of the Main Line, about 1,028 yards South of the Signal Box.

SIDING SIGNALS.- The Signal from the Up Main Line to the Siding is the Ground Signal which stands between that Line and the Siding, about 80 yards North of the Signal Box.

The Signal from the Siding to the Up Main Line is the Ground Signal which stands outside the Siding, about 146 yards North of the Signal Box.

AUCHINDAROCH SIDING.

Near the 86 Mile Post, between Duror and Kentallen Stations, a small Locking-Frame of two Levers, controlled by the Tablet for the Section, has been fixed close to the Siding Points on the East side of the Line, and the following Signal will be worked therefrom:-

SIDING SIGNAL.- The Signal from the Siding is the Ground Signal which has been fixed outside of the Siding, about 70 yards South of the Frame.

KENTALLEN STATION.

A Signal Box has been erected on the Up Platform, about 206 yards North of the 88 Mile Post, and from it the following Signals will be worked:-

HOME AND ADVANCED HOME SIGNALS.- The Up Signal stands by the side of the Main Line, about 174 yards North of the Signal box.

The Advanced Up Signal stands by the side of the Up Main Line, about 115 yards South of the Signal Box.

The Down Signal stands by the side of the Main Line, about 212 yards South of the Signal Box.

The Advanced Down Signal stands by the side of the Down Main Line, about 83 yards North of the Signal Box.

DISTANT SIGNALS.- The Up Signal stands by the side of the Main Line, about 979 yards North of the Signal Box.

The Down Signal stands by the side of the Main Line, about 1,129 yards South of the Signal Box.

SIDING SIGNALS.- The Signal from the Up Main Line to the Sidings is the Ground Signal which stands outside that Line, about 98 yards North of the Signal Box.

The Signal from the Sidings to the Up Main Line is the Ground Signal which stands between the Sidings and the Main Line, about 151 yards North of the Signal Box.

The Signal from the Down Main Line to the Sidings is the Ground Signal which stands between that Line and the Siding, about 128 yards South of the Signal Box.

ARDSHEAL QUARRY SIDING.

Near the 89 Mile Post, between Kentallen and Ballachulish Stations, a small Locking-Frame of two Levers, controlled by the Tablet for the Section, has been fixed close to the Siding Points on the East Side of the Line, and the following Signal will be worked therefrom:-

SIDING SIGNAL.- The Signal from the Siding is the Ground Signal which has been fixed outside the Siding, about 70 yards South from the Frame.

BALLACHULISH STATION.

A Signal Box has been erected between No. 1 Platform Line and the Goods Sidings, about 353 yards South of the 92¾ Mile Post, and from it the following Signals will be worked:-

HOME SIGNALS.- A Bracketted Signal Post, as shewn, has been erected by the side of No. 2 Platform Line, about 56 yards South of the Signal Box.

(1) Will be the Up Signal from No. 1 Platform.

(2) Will be the Up Signal from No. 2 Platform.

A Bracketted Signal Post, as shewn, has been erected between the Main Line and the Shunting Siding, about 160 yards South of the Signal Box.

(1) Will be the Down Signal to No. 1 Platform.

(2) Will be the Down Signal to No. 2 Platform.

(3) Will be the Disc Signal from the Main Line to the Goods Sidings.

DISTANT SIGNAL.- The Down Signal to No. 1 Platform stands by the side of the Main Line, about 1,053 yards South of the Signal Box.

SIDING SIGNALS.- The Signal from No. 1 Platform Line to No. 2 Platform Line is the Ground Signal which stands between those Lines, about 147 yards North of the Signal Box.

The Signal from No. 2 Platform Line to No. 1 Platform Line is the Ground Signal which stands between those Lines, about 98 yards North of the Signal Box.

The Signal from the Goods Sidings to the Main Line is the Ground Signal which stands between the Sidings and No. 1 Platform Line, about 54 yards South of the Signal Box.

The Signal from the Goods Sidings to the Shunting Siding is the Ground Signal which stands outside the Sidings, opposite the last-described Signal.

The Signal from the Shunting Siding to the Goods Sidings is the Ground Signal which stands outside the Shunting Siding, about 112 yards South of the Signal Box.


The Line will be worked by Train Tablet under the Regulations at page 26 and subsequent pages of Appendix No. 37 to Working Time Tables, dated 1st May, 1902, in the following Sections:-

Connel Ferry West Box and Benderloch Station.
Benderloch Station and Creagan Station.
Creagan Station and Appin Station.
Appin Station and Duror Station.
Duror Station and Kentallen Station.
Kentallen Station and Ballachulish Station.

Each of the Stations on the new Line is equipped as a passing place for Passenger and Goods Trains.


NOTE.-Until further notice the speed of all Trains on this Line must not exceed 20 miles an hour.



To come into operation on Wednesday and Thursday, the 19th and 20th days of August, 1903.
