Regulations for working the Down Night Mail


These instructions appeared in the Appendix to the Working Time Table, dated 1st May, 1915.

REGULATIONS FOR WORKING THE DOWN NIGHT MAIL-CALLANDER TO OBAN.-The party in charge of each Tablet Station from Callander and Oban Junction, Callander to Glencruitten Summit, inclusive, must, prior to giving the "Closing of Signal Box" Signal and going off duty for the day, withdraw a Tablet for the Night Mail, and leave it hanging upon the Main Slide of Tablet Instrument, or other place arranged.

The Guard in charge of Train, will exchange Tablets at each Tablet Station and leave the Tablet received from the Driver in the place where the one to be handed to the Driver is taken from.

The party in charge of each Tablet Station on coming on duty next morning must, after giving the "Opening of Signal Box" Signal, deposit the Tablet in the Instrument, and then give the "Train out of Section" Signal to the Station or Signal Box in the rear, in accordance with Tablet Regulations 3 and 10.
